How to Create Aerial Roots

36th Bienal de São Paulo, 2025 · Almeida & Dale, 2026

Copper and iron sculptures developed from observing the aerial roots of the paxiúba, the walking palm abundant in the Amazon. From this living architecture the artist builds lines that compose space. Bent by hand, the iron reveals the “body exercise” that sustains her practice: work in the studio, the repetition of gestures and the resistance of the material.

The series was shown at the 36th Bienal de São Paulo in 2025 and in its 2026 travelling editions at the Museu Nacional da República, Brasília, and Sesc Santos. Its developments make up I Still Want to Dive into the Distance, the artist’s first solo show at Almeida & Dale, in November 2026.
